Have I Mentioned Nebraska?

I know most of my emails lately have been about the race for the White House. But I think it’s time for me to mention the Senate — specifically, Nebraska. Just last week, Dan Osborn, the Independent candidate, took a five-point lead over Republican incumbent Deb Fischer.

Osborn is a Navy vet, an industrial mechanic, and a union leader. And believe me when I say we should all want Osborn in office in place of Fischer. He just might be the pick-up we need to hold the Senate!

Of course, now that Osborn is ahead in the polls, the GOP is pouring money into Nebraska to save Fischer.

Midwest Values PAC is supporting U.S. Senate candidates and incumbents who are in competitive races. That means Elissa Slotkin in Michigan, Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, Bob Casey in Pennsylvania, Sherrod Brown in Ohio, Jon Tester in Montana, Jacky Rosen in Nevada, Ruben Gallego in Arizona, Colin Allred in Texas, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in Florida, Angela Alsobrooks in Maryland, and now Dan Osborn in Nebraska. (Good god, that’s a lot of competitive races!) We need to hold or win a total of 20 seats to hold the Senate. Keep in mind that, even if Vice President Kamala Harris wins, without the Senate she will not be able to get her agenda passed.

We’re less than four weeks away from the election. The time to give is NOW!

Thanks!

Al

P.S. Trump won Nebraska by nearly 20 points in 2020, so clearly Osborn is connecting with voters. You know, he has a real shot at this thing!

Somehow, it’s been 20 years since I started Midwest Values PAC to help Democrats win elections — from progressive organizations to state legislatures to Congress to the White House — who share the values I grew up with in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Since 2006, Midwest Values PAC has invested more than $4 million in 341 candidates and organizations — and counting.

Of course, none of this happens without you (or supporters like you) who care enough to pitch in.

As we mark our 20th anniversary, the work is more urgent than ever. This year, we have a big job: flip the House, take the Senate, and win up and down the ballot at the state and local level.

To mark our 20th year, we’ve set an ambitious goal: 26,000 contributions by Election Day 2026.

Thanks for being part of this fight, and for sticking with us for 20 years (or for just joining — welcome!).

Al

P.S. Over the years, okay, decades, we’ve helped Democrats win tough races all across the country by investing early, intelligently, and strategically. That’s how you flip seats. That’s how you protect democracy. And that’s how you stop the worst impulses of a president who never should have been president in the first place.
