A Five Million Dollar Bargain

Trump announced last week that he’s going to be selling a new path to citizenship: The “Gold Card.” For just $5,000,000 (that’s $5 million), a (wealthy) foreigner will gain the right to live and work in the U.S. and earn their way to becoming an American. What a steal!

Trump suggested that “millions” of these Gold Cards could be sold! So, selling just two million would yield $1013 or $10,000,000,000,000 or ten trillion dollars! This would knock off nearly a third of the National Debt. Or allow Trump to give even more tax breaks to the ultra rich.

I asked my team if we could make an MVP Gold Card to give our top donors. Those would be the ones who give $5,000 — the most you can donate in a calendar year.

We’re also grateful to those who give $500.

But my team reminded me that our average donor gives closer to $50 a year.

Or even $5.

Or $1.

Okay, I’ll stop begging. And we won’t be making an MVP Gold Card. But I’ll probably write you again if Trump actually sells them. I hear there’s a list of Russian oligarchs already waiting to sign up.

P.S. Last Wednesday, House Republicans voted to kill $880,000,000,000 (that’s $880 billion) from federal programs, including Medicaid. It passed by one vote! MVP needs to get the Dem majority back in 2026 to reverse this dangerous nonsense.
